This is the quickest way to Chapter five. Please note: you will miss a lot of content. I will assume this is not your first play through and skip much of the fluff. If you want a step by step walk-through, there are plenty of others.
Once you have control and can go wherever you want in Chapter one, go to Besaid and Zanarkand. You will now have no choice but to go to Kilika, so go there and get the Awesome Sphere.
Chapter two is all about giving the Awesome Sphere to one of the major factions (either one is fine) and stealing Syndicate uniforms after they steal the Broken Sphere from you.
After you choose a faction, go to Djose and wait for the line at the Travel Agency to clear (you can just wait, the time is fixed), go inside and talk about digging, go into the temple and talk about digging some more, go back out and head toward the Djose Highroad and talk about more digging, and get a letter from Gippal. Continue to the Highroad and head toward Mushroom Rock. You will be interrupted with a mission to find a dropped sphere (and your first Uniform). After which you return to the ship.
Go to Gagazet and talk to Kimari. Follow the red arrow to the top and climb up the side following Faction members to the hotspring. They will give up your second Uniform.
Go to Bikinel and talk to Nadhala; try to leave and she will ask you to go to the Oasis. Go there for your third and final Uniform.
Go to Guadosalam and enter the mansion. Once you finish here, you’ll be back on your ship. Go to Bevelle. Chapter two ends here.
Chapter three is all about dropping Comspheres and cleaning up temples. Go to Besaid and Kilika. Then go to Djose. Chapter three ends here.
Chapter four is all about watching Comspheres and putting on a concert. Watch Comspheres: Besaid, Mushroom Rock, and Bevelle. Just follow the story from here. After the concert, you’ll begin Chapter five.
Welcome to Chapter five. You will not be able to do the following: Chocobo related stuff (Clasko is gone, sorry), Crimson Squad stuff (you missed a Crimson Sphere in Chapter three), or “complete” any Episodes (no Mascot Dressphere for you).
